George Kovalenko on the problematic nature of the canon, the art of performing poetry, and the poetics of death.

George Kovalenko is a Russian-American poet from Palm Desert, California. His work has appeared in Crazyhorse, The Iowa Review OnlineNew South, At Length, and Horsethief.  He holds an MFA from New York University where he is pursuing a PhD in German Poetics. He is an Editor for the literary journal Poet's Country and has taught at New York University, SUNY Westchester, Union County College, and CUNY College of Staten Island. He lives in Brooklyn.
